EAAI stands for International Airport Management Authority, which operates as a decentralized autonomous entity, having its own capital equity, legal standing and indefinite life. The EAAI is self-supporting with the fees and revenues generated by the services offered to airport users.

4. What other airports are managed by the EAAI?

The EAAI currently manages four domestic airports: the Managua International Airport and three domestic airports located in Bluefields, Puerto Cabezas and Corn Island on Nicaragua's Atlantic Coast.

5. How much is the departure tax?

All departing passengers must pay US$ 32.00, or its equivalent in local currency at the effective exchange rate.

6. Do I have to pay any tax upon arriving in Nicaragua?

All arriving passengers must pay a US$ 5.00 tax to the Nicaraguan Tourism Institute (INTUR), except for citizens of the CA-4 countries (Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua). Payments must be in dollars.

7. What immigration requirements must be complied before entering or leaving Nicaragua?

Passengers under 18 years old require an exit visa.

× Foreigners residing in Nicaragua are issued an exit visa by immigration authorities upon paying C$ 70.00.
× Immigration authorities issue exit visas for minors upon presentation of the following documents: birth certificate, a passport valid for at least six months, a notarized travel authorization document signed by both parents.
× Central American citizens who require an entry visa are: Costa Ricans for US$ 20.00, and Panamanians for US$ 5.00, which must be paid in dollars.
× Citizens of the CA-4 countries (Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador and Nicaragua) may enter the country upon presenting their respective ID document.

The VIP Lounge has five different rates:

× Normal rate: US$ 30.00 per passenger, plus 15% sales tax. The service includes checking documents and baggage with immigration, customs and the respective airline. Bar service: 3 drinks and a plate of snacks.
× Corporate rate: US$ 20.00 per passenger, plus 15% sales tax. This service is available for corporations and airlines, and includes checking documents and baggage with immigration, customs and the respective airline. Bar service: 2 drinks and a plate of snacks.
× Affiliated Credit Cards Rate: US$ 15.00 per passenger, plus sales tax. Includes checking documents and baggage, bar service, one soft drink and a snack.
× Rates for minors: US$ 10.00 per passenger, plus 15% sales tax. This rate is applicable for passengers between 2 and 12 years old. The service includes checking documents and baggage with immigration and customs, one beverage and a plate of snacks.
× Infant rate: US$ 5.00 per passenger, plus 15% sales tax. This rate is available for infants between 0 and 2 years of age. The service includes checking documents.

9. What restrictions apply to the VIP lounge?

There are certain special conditions that must be met before using the VIP Lounge:

× Reservations must be made 24 hours in advance.
× Only two persons are allowed to accompany each passenger.
× No smoking is permitted.
× All extra drinks must be paid in cash or by credit card.
× Proper attire is required.
× Passengers must report to the VIP Lounge two hours before their departure time.

10. What commercial and cargo airlines fly to Nicaragua?

Among the commercial airlines that operate in Nicaragua are: American Airlines, Continental Airlines, Grupo Taca, Copa Airlines, Iberia, and Aerocaribbean. Some of the cargo airlines are: United Parcel Service (UPS), Fine Airlines (Arrow Air), Royal Antillas Air, Taca Cargo and Copa Cargo.
