- All foreigners entering the country must have a passport valid for at least six months.
- As a result of a bilateral agreement between Nicaragua and the United States, US citizens are exempt from the above requirement.
- Citizens of Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador and Nicaragua may enter the country with a CA-4 form, after submitting their respective identity cards. Immigration authorities in those countries are authorized to issue this form.
- All foreigners entering the country shall pay a tourist fee of US$ 5.00. Citizens of the CA-4 countries (Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala and Nicaragua) are exempt.
- The Immigration Administration is responsible for issuing visas to Nicaraguan citizens under 18 years of age. The following documents must be submitted: birth certificate, a passport valid for at least six months, a notarized permit signed by the parents and a copy of the parents’ identity cards.
- Nicaraguans over 18 years of age do not require a visa to leave the country.
- Foreigners and residents in Nicaragua must obtain a visa in order to leave the country. The Immigration Administration will grant a visa upon the submission of a valid resident ID card. The cost of the visa is C$ 70.00.
